Under the Nebraska Real Estate License Act, persons holding a real estate license, in good standing, in another real estate regulatory jurisdiction may be issued an equivalent real estate license in Nebraska either while remaining a non-resident of Nebraska or upon moving to Nebraska directly from the jurisdiction in which the real estate license was held.
General Requirements and Information for License Recognition in Nebraska
An application for real estate licensure must be in the Commission Office PRIOR TO the Applicant Pursuing the Criminal History Report. The Nebraska Real Estate License Act requires all applicants for original licensure as a real estate salesperson or broker to undergo a criminal background check utilizing fingerprints. This includes both resident and nonresident applicants.
Important Information - Your application will not be considered complete until all required materials are supplied to the Commission including the criminal background report. It is currently taking four to six weeks, on average, after submitting your fingerprints for the report to be received by the Commission.
Non-Residents or those using a law enforcement agency other than the Nebraska State Patrol -You will need to acquire fingerprint cards from our office prior to getting your fingerprints rolled. Upon receipt of your application, we will send you 2 fingerprint cards along with the procedures located in the link below. If you are a Nebraska resident not using the Nebraska State Patrol to complete the fingerprinting process, you MUST call the Commission office to request the cards be sent to you.
If you are a Nebraska resident who is a designated broker and maintains a location other than the main address, you will want to review the Branch Office Information to submit an application, if necessary.
Any license which has been inactive for a continuous period of more than three years shall be reinstated only if the individual has met the examination requirement of an original applicant.
