CURRENT LICENSEE - MANAGE YOUR LICENSE

A real estate licensee may request a Certification of License History when they need official verification of their Nebraska real estate license status and history for another real estate regulatory jurisdiction, government agency, employer, or other organization. The certification serves as an official record of the licensee's licensure, including license type, status, and licensing history. It is commonly used when applying for licensure in another state, verifying professional credentials, or providing proof of past or current licensure to a regulatory agency or employer. Please provide:

Under the Nebraska Real Estate License Act, persons holding a real estate license, in good standing, in another real estate regulatory  jurisdiction may be issued an equivalent real estate license in Nebraska either while remaining a non-resident of Nebraska or upon moving to Nebraska directly from the jurisdiction in which the real estate license was held.

If you move from the resident state your license was based on, you must notify the Nebraska Real Estate Commission immediately.  You will need to update your resident address by logging into your portal.  Make sure you provide additional documentation as explained below via the documents tab on your portal.

  • If you do not have a license in your new resident state, you no longer meet the requirements of license recognition and your Nebraska Real Estate license will  be voided.
  • If you have a license in your new resident state, we will need to see if that license meets the Nebraska license recognition requirements.  We may need a certification of license history from your new resident state to verify your license status and to make sure it is in good standing.
  • If you move to Nebraska, you will be issued a resident license.

This information is provided as a general reference for Nebraska resident licensees who may be interested in obtaining a real estate license in another real estate regulatory jurisdiction.

Because licensing requirements, recognition agreements, and administrative procedures are established and maintained by each individual jurisdiction and are subject to change, the Nebraska Real Estate Commission does not provide a determination of eligibility or specific licensing guidance for another jurisdiction.

Licensees should contact the appropriate real estate regulatory jurisdiction directly to confirm current requirements, application procedures, and whether any licensure recognition provisions may apply.

To transfer a Nebraska real estate license, the Nebraska Real Estate Commission (NREC) requires most transfers to be completed through the Licensee Portal rather than paper submissions. A “transfer” generally means either changing brokers or changing your license status between active and inactive.
